Do you have information to help inform our audits?

We are currently auditing in the dioceses of Leeds, Clifton and Menevia.

We are calling on anyone, whatever their experience, and whatever their role, to share information with us about their experience of safeguarding in any of these three Catholic dioceses.

We are particularly concerned to hear from anyone who has experienced abuse. If this is your situation, you may like to read the words of Rebecca, a survivor of church-related abuse , about why we are doing this. If you do choose to come forward, support will be available.

Alternatively, it may be that you work, volunteer, or worship in the Catholic community – if you have experiences of safeguarding in any of these three dioceses, or simply wish to inform us of something to help our audit of their safeguarding work today, we’d love to hear from you.

Leeds, Clifton and Menevia have courageously stepped forward to help us trial this public call.  It demonstrates to us their commitment to continuous improvement, and to keeping people safe. We thank them for working with us so positively, and for their transparency.

Here is a word from Rebecca, a member of the CSSA survivor reference panel:

 “My name is Rebecca, and I am a survivor of sexual abuse at the hands of a Catholic priest. I am reaching out on behalf of the CSSA, Survivor Reference Panel, to ask for anyone who has been affected by safeguarding experiences regarding the Catholic Church to come forward. 

 “The relatively new work undertaken by the CSSA is about change, addressing problems in the hope of moving forward. 

 “Survivors are being given a voice, like never before. There is no judgement, personal opinions, or disbelief, just someone to listen.”

 “Contact can be in person, over the phone or via email, whatever is right for you. 

“Use this opportunity to voice your thoughts and be part of change.”
