CSSA statement regarding the death of Pope Francis

Today, 21 April, our thoughts are with Catholic communities both in England and Wales, and worldwide, as they mourn the sad loss of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Pope Francis was a public advocate of safeguarding and demonstrated his own commitment for a safer Catholic Church. He spoke of the need to “protect, listen and heal.” Pope Francis showed leadership, supporting the need for transparency in safeguarding.
