CSSA Statement on appointment of Archbishop of Westminster

Today (19 Dec 2025) the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency acknowledges the appointment of Bishop Richard Moth as Archbishop of Westminster.

Said Mike Cunningham, Chair of the CSSA:

“We welcome the appointment of the Right Reverend Richard Moth as Archbishop-elect and look forward to working with him in a shared commitment to safeguarding in the Catholic Church.

“We would like thank Cardinal Nichols for his support of the CSSA as we established our work as the independent Inspectorate of safeguarding.”
