The CSSA confirms two new independent Board members

8 July 2025

The CSSA today (8 July 2025) confirms two new independent members joining their Board, both as non-executive directors.  Ashiedu Joel and Geraldine Nosowska have started their tenure.

Ashiedu leads a cultural capital and inclusive leadership consultancy and is an experienced non-executive director, consultant and trustee. Geraldine has a background in local authority social care, having been Chair of the British Association of Social Workers.

Mike Cunningham, independent Chair of the CSSA said: “We had an incredibly high calibre of candidates apply to be on our Board. It is gratifying that such experienced professionals feel an alignment with our purpose – to drive up safeguarding standards in the Catholic Church by independently inspecting and sharing what we find.

“Ashiedu and Geraldine are both outstanding in their fields and in their commitment to our work, including our determination to learn from survivors. This next chapter for the CSSA will be even stronger for their influence.”

Ben, a survivor working with the CSSA was on the recruitment panel. Ben said: “As a survivor it was reassuring that there was such a lot of interest in this role. It was a privilege to serve on the recruitment panel and a joy to meet Ashiedu and Geraldine whom I wish every success in their new roles.  I look forward to working with them and continuing the vital work of the CSSA.”
